HOW IT HAPPENED
24": Just past the midway point of the opening 45 minutes, Emerson struck and gave themselves the one-goal lead. Off a corner kick by junior Katie Wojcik, Righetti collected the ball that was deflected off an MIT defender and beat Gilikin.
-After Emerson snagged the 1-0 lead, the Lions sent two more shots at Gilikin, but both shots went wide as the one-goal led held at the break.
-The defense held MIT to eight shots with two turned away by Schaub to help preserve the tight one-goal edge. With 21 ticks left in regulation, Groff attempted one final shot, only to have it blocked as Emerson held on for the win.
