HOW IT HAPPENED

31": Seven minutes past the midway point of the first frame, Emerson jumped into the scoring mix with a goal from MacQuarrie to lift the Lions to the 1-0 lead. With help from Johnston, MacQuarrie took the shot from the left and put the ball into the far right side.

54": The first of Righetti's two goals gave Emerson some insurance at the start of the second half. Righetti carried the ball on the right side to draw out Marcus as her shot found the back of the net and put the visitors up 2-0.

56": Two minutes later, a foul called on the goalkeeper put Emerson on the line and they capitalized. Righetti put her penalty kick into the left side and bumped the Lions' lead to 3-0 as they headed into the 34 minutes of regulation time.

85": Wheaton closed the door on Emerson's shutout with five minutes left in the second when a short cross from Recht found Castaldi, who beat Schaub from within the box and moved the score to 3-1.

-Each team took one more shot attempt through the final two minutes, but neither turned into goals as Emerson came away with the 3-1 win.
