The Lead: The Emerson Women's Soccer team fell to Wheaton 1-0 in the Quarterfinal match of the NEWMAC championship Tuesday evening at Rotch Field.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

EMERSON

Slater: 1 shot on goal

Lukoskie: 1 shot on goal

Khaw: 2 shots (1 shot on goal)

West-Rodriguez: 1 shot

Goalie: Amara Shaub - one goal allowed with four saves on five shots through 90 minutes

 

WHEATON:

Paulo: 1 goal

Rattenni: 2 shots on goal

Goalie: Gabby Marcus - zero goals allowed with four saves on four shots through 90 minutes 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Wheat has an opportunity in the 1st minute of the match but Cloe Troy's shot was turned away by Emerson goalie Amara Shaub. Wheaton would take the lead later in the 1st half on a goal by Makenzie Paulo. Emerson had chances to tie the match in the 65th minute, 73rd minute, 81st minute, and in the 89th minute when a controversial foul was called on Emerson, costing them the tying goal.

 

 26": Wheaton struck first as Makenzie Paulo drilled the back of the net on a shot from the top of the box putting Wheaton up 1-0.

 

UP NEXT 

  • The Lions finish the season with a 10-6 overall record and a 7-4 record in NEWMAC. This season marks one of the best seasons in program history for the Lions. They look to rebound in 2022 and build of this past season.
