Davis Named NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Defensive POTY ; Combs & Davis Named To All-Conference Squad

BOSTON, Mass. - As announced by the NEWMAC (New England Women's and Men's Conference) offices this past week, Emerson women's volleyball sophomore Caroline Davis and freshman Amelia Combs both earned recognition in the league's postseason awards. Davis was named NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year and earned a First Team All-Conference nod, while Combs picked up a Second Team honor.

The sophomore libero, who was named NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week two times during the regular season, ranked second in the conference in digs per set (4.50) and was fifth in total digs at 140 in conference play. Davis' leadership and consistency on the backline earned her the Defensive Player of the Year accolade in her debut season with Emerson. Overall, Davis racked up 4.44 digs per set and recorded a NEWMAC fourth-best 346 digs. The award also earned Davis a spot on First Team All-Conference.

Combs, a freshman pin hitter for Emerson, made a statement in her collegiate debut as she paced the Lions offense with a total of 236 kills and averaged 2.95 kils per set. Through 25 matches, she registered double-digit kills in 15 matches with her season-high of 22 kills coming in against Johnson & Wales (RI) within the Lions' five-game win streak to wrap the regular season.
