BOSTON, Mass. (November 10, 2025) – Emerson College has earned a spot in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Volleyball Tournament for the sixth-straight season, and the sixth-seeded Lions will visit third-seeded Springfield College for a quarterfinal round matchup at Blake Arena at 7 p.m.

General admission mobile tickets for Tuesday's NEWMAC Tournament contest is $11.00 and can only be purchased through the NEWMAC online box office at events.hometownticketing.com/boxoffice/newmacsports. Children 12 and under and NEWMAC students with a valid student ID are free and do not need to purchase a mobile ticket. The NEWMAC encourages fans to purchase their mobile tickets in advance of the event to streamline the entry process on game day. While spectators may purchase their mobile tickets on site, no cash option will be available.

The game will also be broadcast live on FloSports and can be accessed via links at emersonlions.com or through the FloSports app on Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku.

Emerson (14-14, 6-5 NEWMAC) has qualified for the NEWMAC Tournament for the sixth-straight season and aims to get past the quarterfinal round for the first time since its first NEWMAC Tournament appearance in 2019 when it spun a pair of upsets on the way to a spot in the NEWMAC Championship match. The Lions joined the NEWMAC in 2013 after capturing a pair of titles as members of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference in 2009 and 2012.

Emerson enters the postseason having won three of its last five NEWMAC matches to clinch a spot in the tournament, with three-straight Conference matches needing five sets to decide. The Lions boast one of the top serving teams in not just the NEWMAC, but all of NCAA Division III volleyball with a Conference-best 2.90 services aces per set as a team to ranked 20th nationally. Emerson ranks ninth in the NEWMAC for team hitting percentage (.155), tenth in kills per set (10.75) and eighth in assists per set (9.92).

Sophomore Chloe Hokenson is the impetus behind much of the Emerson offense, having posted a pair of triple doubles late in the season and 12 doubles-doubles this fall overall after notching a career-high 22 kills with 21 assists at Coast Guard Academy on Saturday. She has scored a team-high 301 points for the Lions this season and is averaging 1.99 kills, 5.63 assists (7th NEWMAC), 1.97 digs, 0.46 service aces and 0.45 blocks per set. Hokenson surpassed 1,000 career assists earlier this season.

Sophomore Sophia Schiappa leads the Emerson service efforts with a NEWMAC-best 0.67 aces per set to rank 45th nationally, while supporting Hokenson with 3.33 assists per set and chipping in 1.35 digs per set. Junior Lauren Yoo averages a team-best 3.42 digs, with 0.49 aces per set for the Lions, while junior Hannah Miller contributes 0.67 blocks per set and first-year Catherine McDonough averages 0.56 blocks per set.

Junior Rachel Dickerson leads the Emerson hitters with 2.80 kills per set (10th), adding 1.54 digs, scoring 240.5 points this season, while first-year Shirley Yu (Hong Kong) adds 2.76 per set and is second on the team in scoring with 254.5 points.

Springfield (22-6, 9-2 NEWMAC) enters the postseason having dropped its regular season finale to Babson College, halting a three-match win streak overall and a three-match upswing in NEWMAC play. The Pride are second to Emerson with 2.84 service aces per set to rank 25th nationally, while their 1.92 blocks per set rank third in the Conference and limits opposing hitters to a Conference-low .114 attack percentage, ranking fifth in assists (10.25 per set), digs (14.60) and team hitting percentage (.211).

Junior Tori Colosimo pilots Springfield's attack with 8.70 assists per set (3rd NEWMAC), while also contributing 0.55 service aces (5th), 2.25 digs and 0.40 blocks per set this season. Classmate Jodi Saelua leads the Pride hitters with 2.26 kills per set and a .357 hitting percentage (3rd) to go with 0.98 blocks (2nd) per set and a team-high 271.5 points scored for the season. Senior Emily Keaveney adds 2.24 kills, 0.51 aces (7th) and 2.63 digs per set, while scoring 266.0 points for the Pride. Junior Ahunna James contributes 2.04 kills, 2.30 digs and 0.68 blocks with 255.5 points, while classmate Olivia Nealy chips in with 3.71 digs (7th).

Tomorrow night's match will mark the 15th meeting all-time and the second in the NEWMAC Tournament. Springfield holds a 12-2 advantage in the series dating back to 2008, including a 3-1 decision over Emerson in the quarterfinal round of the 2021 NEWMAC Tournament on Boylston Street. The Pride have won the last five matches between the two, including a 3-1 victory over the Lions at Brown & Plofker Gymnasium on October 4.

Springfield bounced back from a narrow setback in the opening set to win the next three and hand Emerson its first NEWMAC loss the season in the regular season encounter. Colosimo engineered the Pride attack with 30 assists, adding 13 digs, seven kills, three service aces and three blocks, while sophomore Alexa Bonato led with eight kills (.350). Yu led Emerson with 12 kills, while Hokenson totaled ten kills, 19 assists, five digs and an ace for the Lions.

The winner of Tuesday night's match will advance to the NEWMAC Championship round to be hosted by the highest remaining seed on Saturday and Sunday. The Emerson/Springfield winner will advance to face the winner of tonight's quarterfinal between No. 7 Mount Holyoke College (15-13, 5-6 NEWMAC) and No. 2 Babson College (20-6, 10-1 NEWMAC) in a semifinal round match on Saturday.
