Cosgrove Records Hat Trick as Women's Soccer Blanks Mount Holyoke

The Lead: Powered by senior Grace Cosgrove's hat trick and goals from freshman Lauren Carlson, sophomore Simone Barragan-Shaw and junior Josephine Mazza, the Emerson women's soccer team notched its first NEWMAC win as the Lions blanked Mount Holyoke, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon at Rotch Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Lions offense was hot from beginning to end- scoring three goals in each half as they cruised to a 6-0 victory.

8": The Lions got on the board early when Lukoskie found Cosgrove, who spun past a defender and found the back of the net for her first goal putting Emerson up 1-0.

24": Cosgrove found the back of the net again as she floated home a crossing pass into the right post from Eliza Corbett giving the Lions a 2-0 lead.

40": The Lions added a third goal late in the first half as Mazza dropped a shot into the back of the net from well behind the top of the box. This gave the Lions a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

53": The Lions continued the scoring into the second half as Lukoskie earned her second assist on the day as Barragan-Shaw headed a crossing pass into the back of the net.

81": Late in the second half, Cosgrove ompleted a hat trick as she headed freshman Madeline Khaw's corner kick past Mount Holyoke's goalie, putting the Lions up 5-0.

86": Carlson added the final Emerson goal as she beat her defender and solidifying the victory for the Lions.
