HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson fell behind halfway through the 1st half and had multiple scoring chances in the 36th, 37th, and 39th minute but would enter halftime down 1-0. The Lions of Emerson would hold Wheaton scoreless in the 2nd half and add two goals from Simone Barragan-Shaw and Alianna West-Rodriguez to secure A 2-1 victory.
21": Wheaton struck first as Lily Brown found the back of the net on a crossing pass from Nevaeh Petruzzi to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
50": Early in the 2nd half, Emerson knotted it up when Grace Cosgrove hit Simone Barragan-Shaw with a beautiful lead pass that allowed Shaw to continue up the field and beat Wheaton's goalkeeper; tying the score at 1-1.
69": Emerson added what ultimately would be the game winning goal when Alianna West-Rodriguez popped a Gina Lukoskie crossing pass over Wheaton's goalkeeper giving the Lions of Emerson a 2-1 lead midway through the 2nd half.
