The Emerson Men's Tennis Team hosted the Engineers of MIT on Wednesday, falling to the New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference opponent 9-0.
Emerson opened up with a battle in the top doubles pairing, with Bass Lin (Shanghai, China) and Dan Okin (Amagansett, N.Y.) falling to Michael Zhao and Pablo Ampudia 8-5. In the second pairing, Mateus De Campos Tinoco and Brock Higley (Bedford, N.H.) fell to Albert Go and Sean Ko 8-3. Tyler Barr and Henry La Soya swept Maximo Lawlor (Litchfield Park, Ariz.) and Jeff Pratt (Atkinson, N.H.) 8-0 to take a 3-0 lead into the singles matches.
Lin and Barr faced off in the top singles pairing, with Lin falling 6-2, 6-0. Lawlor fell 6-3 in both sets in the second singles pairing to Ko. Go defeated Okin 6-0, 6-1 in the third pairing. Charles Deng took on De Campos Tinoco 6-2 in both sets. Higley and Pratt fell 6-0 in straight sets in their matches to Arman Dave and LaSoya to give MIT the 9-0 win.
The Lions travel to take on Babson on Saturday afternoon, with a match starting at 12:00pm.
