The Lead:
Senior Tara Windsor (Palm City, Fl.) led the Emerson women's lacrosse team with a pair of goals in the Lions opening NEWMAC defeat at the hands of the Coast Guard Bears on Saturday afternoon. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Windsor paced the Lions with a pair goals along with one from freshman Kelli Mark ().
  • Along with her two goals, Windsor had a ground ball pickup, three draw control wins and one caused turnover.
  • In net for Emerson was senior Kristina Modica (East Moriches, N.Y.), who came away with 10 saves on 29 shots through 60 minutes.
  • Coast Guard's Brenna Farrington led all scorers with four goals along with Carter Sanderson, while Haley McCue, Daria McKenna and Marietta Davis notched two goals apiece and one from Haley Howard.
  • McCue and Howard also finished with one assist each.
  • Starting in the opening half in net for Coast Guard was Rebecca Dolan, who picked up the win with four saves on seven shots and Mary Budri entered in the second half with one save and allowed two goals.

    HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The visiting Bears surged for the game's opening seven goals, capped off by a goal from Davis with 8:15 left in the half.
  • Emerson broke Coast Guard's scoring streak with its first net by Mark to put the score at 8-1 before the Bears tallied a pair of unanswered nets for the 10-1 lead at the half.
  • The Lions could not keep up with the Bears in the second half despite two more goals both from the stick of Windsor as the visitors registered nine goals to seal the win.
