BOSTON, Mass. - It was a cold and windy day at Rotch Field, as The Emerson Lions hosted the Coast Guard for a NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse matchup. The Lions played a dominant game, scoring the opening two goals, which fueled a 13-4 victory over the Bears. The Lions rise to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Bears drop to 2-9 overall and 0-4 in the NEWMAC.

Meredith Weber, assisted by Emily Quinn, scored the opening goal just over a minute into the contest. She would go on to score two more goals and earned an assist, ending the game with four points. The freshman Quinn put in a goal of her own shortly after.

With the Bears down two, Carter Sanderson stepped up with an unassisted goal. But that was all they could muster in the first half, as the Lions went on to score six more to end the half 8-1.

Kate Lemire, Guerin Morissette, and Tara Windsor all scored during the first half for the Lions as well. Lemire put in two overall, while Morissette tallied four on the day as well as an assist to Lemire.

The second half started slow, as more than six minutes ticked off before Tayllar Righini found the back of the net for the Lions to extend the lead 9-1.  Coast Guard refused to quit though, as Jackie Kokomoor and Isabelle Patnode both scored for the Bears minutes later, 10-3

Late in the second half, with less than 2 minutes on the clock, Coast Guard goalkeeper, Angel Fay, went coast to coast as she connected with Anne McGoldrick for the Bears final goal of the game.

Emerson put in one more on a man up opportunity to close out the contest 13-4.

The Lions return to action on April 13th for another NEWMAC matchup, as they host Wheaton at 6:30pm.
