Emerson Women's Lacrosse lost to Mount Holyoke College in their NEWMAC conference opener. The Lions were defeated by a final of 9-6. The first half started quickly for the Lions, as Emerson's Guerin Morissette scored the opening goal. However, Mount Holyoke would score 3 unanswered goals by Catherine Ryan to take a 3-1 lead. Emerson tied the game back up at three, only to see Mount Holyoke score two goals with moments left on the clock to take a 5 –3 lead into halftime.
The second half saw the Lions struggle coming out of halftime as Ryan scored her fourth goal of the game en route to helping Mount Holyoke take a 7-3 lead. Emerson's Tayllar Righini and Kate Lemire then scored to cut the Mount Holyoke lead in half. However, Mt. Holyoke answered, bringing the lead back to four goals and ultimately putting the game out of reach for the Lions.
With this loss Emerson drops to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Mount Holyoke improves to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Emerson's next game is on March 28th against Smith College at 12:00pm.
