Women's Soccer Defeats Clark in OT, 2-1

Box Score

Worcester, Mass. – Mollie Coyne (Hamilton, N.J.) banged home a pass off of a corner kick from Alyssa Gianonne(Mountainside, N.J.) late in the first overtime and visiting Emerson College stunned host Clark University, 2-1, on Senior Day in New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action.

The win ends the Lions' season at 11-6-1 overall, while Clark sees its season come to an end at 2-14-2.

Gianonne actually got Emerson on the board in the first half when she took a feed from Coyne and deposited her fourth goal of the season at 21:22.

Clark evened the score right before the half when Kara Fischer (Belmont, Mass.) scored her sixth marker of the year with help from Nikki Feinberg (San Antonio, Texas) in the 41st minute.

Things stayed that way until Coyne's heroics ended the contest at 98:01.

For the most part, the stats were pretty even with the Lions holding slight edges in shots (17-11) and corner kick (5-4).

Both netminders were excellent in goal with Melanie Escobar (Torrington, Conn.) making eight saves for Emerson, while Gabby Paolini (North Potomac, Md.) – playing in her final collegiate contest while making her 73rd consecutive start – finished with eight of her own.
