Box Score SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Phenomenal play by Allie Altman and the Emerson Women's Soccer Team pushed the Lions past the Suffolk Rams with a 2-0 win Tuesday night at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville. With the win the Lions improve to 3-3 while Suffolk falls to 1-4 on the year.
EC's Mollie Coyne scored midway through the first half as her shot from the left side of the 10 yard line found its way into the back of the Suffolk net for the first goal of the game. The Lions offense put in the work as well putting up ten shots to Suffolk's six as Emerson rolled into the half up 1-0.
Allie Altman was on point on the night as she stopped all six shots put up by Suffolk on the night. The Rams nearly put one away with a shot off the crossbar, but a penalty kick in the 52nd minute of action that Alyssa Giannone put away for her third goal of the year saw Emerson take off with the 2-0 win.
Next up the Lions will open up NEWMAC action this weekend as they travel to Wellesley this Saturday for a 1 p.m. game versus the Blue in Wellesley, Mass.
