CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Putting up their fourth sweep of the season, the Emerson Men's Tennis Team rolled to a 9-0 win over Wentworth Monday afternoon. With the win the Lions are now 7-1 on the year as WIT falls to 3-4.

Doubles play saw the Lions start off with some heat as Mitchell Lance and Brent Walkoff took care of business early on with a perfect 8-0 win in the one spot. Vincent Castellini and Zach Connolly pulled up next with an 8-2 win in the two spot over Andy Chen and Dylan Melnik. The third W in doubles was a bit tougher of a match, but in the end Niklas Rhodes and Matthew Clark took home an 8-6 win to make it 3-0.

Singles was showcased some grittier matches for the Lions as only Mitchell Lance in the one spot, Brent Walkoff in the two spot and Vincent Castellini in the three spot pulled away with straight set wins to clinch the match.

Man of the Match, Matthew Clark has to surge back from dropping his first set 1-6 in the six spot to a 6-4, 1-0 (10-2) win, which Niklas Rhodes nearly mimicked in the five spot, falling 2-6 to open his match before taking a 6-4 and 1-0 (10-8) tiebreak to win it. Completing the sweep was Zach Connolly in the four spot with a 6-3 win to open before Dylan Melnik took the next set 3-6 sending it into a tiebreak that Connelly collected (10-6).

The Lions return to GNAC action this weekend as they set to host Norwich this Saturday in Weymouth, Mass. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Weymouth Tennis Club.
