QUINCY, Mass. – The Emerson Men's Tennis Team saw their five match win streak come to an end Wednesday as they fell 8-1 to the Eastern Nazarene Lions. Emerson is now 5-1 on the year as ENC improves to 7-4.
Doubles action saw ENC come out strong as Emerson was unable to find their normal rhythm as the number one duo Austin Steelman and Nick Thompson collected an 8-2 win, while Mitchell Lance and Brent Walkoff fell in a tough 8-3 loss. Vincent Castellini and Zach Connolly put up a fight in the three spot but ultimately fell 8-4.
Single action saw EC try to settle down a bit more, but ENC was on a roll as they collected straight sets wins in the one, two, three and five spots. Emerson's Brent Walkoff battled hard in the four spot as he push it to extras in set one, but finally fell 7-5, 6-2.
Emerson's sole win on the day came in the six spot as man of the match Zach Connolly grabbed the first set 6-2 only to see ENC's Gregory Parenteau fire back for a 4-6 win to tie it. In the tie break Connolly was dominant tough, closing it out 10-3.
Emerson returns to GNAC action this weekend as they set to travel to Paxton, Mass. to face Anna Maria at 6 p.m.
