Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Even with Allie Altman's all-out effort of seven saves the Emerson Women's Soccer Team wasn't able to top WPI Wednesday night in a 2-0 loss. The match was EC's first loss of the season who move to 4-1-1 on the year as WPI improves to 3-4 overall.
While the Emerson defense went to work, the Crimson and Grey came at EC full throttle, putting up nine shots in the first half with Allie Altman saving six of them. Emerson was only able to put up four of their own as the D finally wore down in the 36th minute of play with Lindsey Grasis collecting a rebound off the post that she deposited in the top right corner.
Coming out of the half down one, the Lions looked flat still as they couldn't seem to get the offense in sync, putting up only two shots in the half. The defense finally caved again though in the 72nd minute of action with Alex Dustin taking a corner kick off her head into the top left of the net to cement the 2-0 final score.
The Lions will take to the road next as they set to travel to Saint Joseph's Maine this Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. game.
