Box Score MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – With Tracie Lombardo lighting up the boards for six goals on the night, the Emerson Women's Lacrosse Team was unable to pull off the W Thursday night as they fell 16-7 to the Salve Regina Seahawks. The loss sends Emerson to 3-4 on the season as Salve Regina moves to 8-3 on the year.
The first half saw the Seahawks come out strong as they put up 21 shots in the half, with 11 of them finding their goal, though the Lions offense also gave chase with 17 shots in the half, with four finding net.
It was 5-0 by the time Tracie Lombardo netted one of her six goals in the game as she scored in the 13th minute of action, then again with two more unassisted goals in the 13th and 18th minute before closing out the half with her fourth of the night on a pass from Marlee Galper to send it into the break with Salve holding a 11-4 lead.
The Seahawks swooped in again in the second half with 14 shots, while Emily Saeger held her own, stopping seven of them. While Salve scored the first three in the half, they just couldn't figure out Tracie Lombardo as she struck again for number five off a pass from Kanika Misra only eight minutes in. Only a few mere minutes later Lombardo was back in the hunt for her sixth as she doubled up the hat trick unassisted again to make it 15-6.
SRU added one more to the scoreboard before the Lions had the final say as Marlee Galper tacked on one more for the Lions with 15 minutes to go in the half as both offensive attacks were stagnated for the duration in the 16-7 final.
Emerson will return to action Saturday as they continue GNAC play, taking on conference foe, Emmanuel in Boston at noon.
