Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – With a last minute surge by the Suffolk Rams to put the game out of reach the Emerson Women's Soccer Team saw their 2011 season come to an end with a 4-2 loss Saturday afternoon at Rotch Field. On the year Emerson finished with a 6-9-1 overall record and 5-6-1 GNAC record while Suffolk pushes to 8-6-1 on the year 6-5-1.
The Rams surged to the lead early on in the game as 14 minutes in Lauren Cameron blasted one past the Lions as Suffolk took the 1-0 lead. The Lions answered the charge with a goal of their own in the 31st minute as captain Meghan Foehl answered the charge with a blast to the back corner of the net with Amber Bigwood picking up the dime.
The half would belong to the Rams though as they put two more away with nine shots total in the half as Leslie Hayden dropped a goal in after Allie Altman lost her footing to make it 2-1. It didn't stay there for long as in the 37th minute Garbielle Balestrier straight down the pike with a blast to top middle shelf of the net to head into the second half up 3-1.
The Lions showed some determination after a tense beginning to the match but EC surged in the 72nd minute with Kara Pantano scoring the off a cross by Elizabeth Corti to cut it to 3-2. It wasn't to be though as Suffolk added one last goal to the fray as Balestrier added another to the stat sheet in the 89th minute to close out the game 4-2.
