Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Another day playing the hero awaited Ken Nikravesh, Cory Walls and Noah Price Saturday afternoon as they Emerson Lions blasted their way to a 2-0 win over Johnson and Wales to clinch a spot in the GNAC playoffs at the end of October. With the win, the Lions are now 8-7 overall and 7-2 in the conference while JWU drops to 4-9-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the GNAC.
It was all first half for the Lions who surged to the lead right out of the gates as Ken Nikravesh tangoed past the Wildcats defense in the seventh minute with a ball from Jacob Lawrence that he deposited into the lower left pocket of the goal to give EC the momentum.
They kept the party rolling in the half as they put up eight shots to JWU's five, though Noah Price was there to save the day, stopping two shots in the first half and four in the second for EC's sixth shutout of the season. Cory Walls used some of his blazing speed in the first half as well to put the Lions even further out of reach after beating the JWU D en route to leaving Ryan Dwierawski in the dust as he put one past the 'Cats in the 30th minute for the 2-0 final.
The Lions will continue the 2011 season as they start to prep for the postseason with St. Joe's of Maine rolling into town this Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. face-off in Boston at Rotch Field
