Women's Soccer Fall To Umass-Boston 4-0

Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. – Even with Allie Altman's 12 saves, the unrelenting assault of the UMass Boston Beacons was too much for the Lions Thursday night at Rotch Field as they fell 4-0. With the loss EC moves to 6-7-1 on the year while UMB improves to 10-4.

The difference in the match was offensive as the Lions were just unable to keep the Beacons out of their territory with UMB blasting 14 shots at the Lions in the first half while EC only managed two. Even still the Lions D was able to hold off the Beacons until the 26th minute when a direct kick resulted in a deflection off the far post which Molly Kuchar put away to make it 1-0.

The Beacons added another in the 44th minute with Tayla Andrews making use of some skilled passing by her Beacon teammates to volley one over Allie Altman for a 2-0 lead at half.

The second half held no more love for the Lions than the first as the Beacons kept swinging away with Altman and the Lion defense pushing as best they could, but they could only hold off until the 77th minute when Andrews struck again off a cross from Anna O'Donoghue. Krista Ledin finished the scoring for the Beacons in the 83rd minute after a ball go through from the right side to make it 4-0 final.

The Lions are back on the pitch with GNAC action starting up again on Saturday at St. Joe's of Connecticut on Saturday at 1 p.m.
