BOSTON, Mass. (October 19, 2026) – Emerson College swept the weekly awards in men's soccer in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference, presented by SKYBOKX 109 Bar & Grill located in Framingham, Massachusetts, the Conference office announced today.
Sophomore Carlo Carson earns NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career, marking the third Emerson men's soccer student-athlete to receive the recognition this season – all within the last four weeks. First year goalkeeper Lasse Bartsch-Erforth was named the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time, joining senior back Daniel Bede in earning the honor this season. The duo gives the Lions five weekly award recipients in the NEWMAC this season, with senior Thomas Pelino and first year Cade Lagerwey joining Carson in being named Offensive Player of the Week.
Carson posted two goals and an assist for five points as Emerson played to a pair of draws for the week. He had a hand in all three Emerson goals, including both second half markers as the Lions erased a two-goal Salve Regina University lead with less than a half hour to play in Wednesday's 3-3 deadlock in Newport, Rhode Island. Carson recorded an assist on Emerson's opening goal just 2:12 into the match and then scored a pair of second half goals to answer three-straight Salve goals, netting the match-tying goal in the 75th minute.

Bartsch-Erforth made a season-high nine saves to preserve his fourth shutout of the season with Saturday's scoreless draw with Clark University. It marks his third consecutive shutout as the Lions played to their second goalless draw of the season.
Carson has started 15 of the 16 matches played for Emerson this fall and ranks second in the NEWMAC with his team-high seven goals, including a NEWMAC-high three matchwinners (31st nationally). He has added an assist to rank third in the Conference with 15 points. Carson has started 29 of 34 matches played over his first two seasons at Emerson and totaled ten goals and two assists for 22 points, netting four matchwinning goals.
Bartsch-Erforth has started seven of eight matches played in his first collegiate season at Emerson and owns a NEWMAC-low 0.40 goals against average with a NEWMAC-leading four shutouts and .917 save percentage, averaging 4.1 saves per match to rank fifth in the Conference in 666:25 played.
Emerson (7-4-4, 0-2-2 NEWMAC) returns to action on Wednesday when it visits Babson College, receiving votes in last week's United Soccer Coaches Division III poll, for a NEWMAC matchup at 6 p.m. The Lions next home match is the following Wednesday, October 28, when it hosts Worcester Polytechnic Institute for a NEWMAC contest at Rotch Field at 7 p.m.
