SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 6, 2025) – Emerson College junior Amaya Briones led the way by capturing a pair of draws at the Springfield College Invitational at Appleton Tennis Courts on Saturday.
Briones started the day by teaming up with junior Gianna Di-Reumante to win the C-Doubles Draw in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5) over the Connecticut College team of MaryElla Prendergast and Taylor Mastrogiovanni. The Lions duo posted a 6-0 triumph over the Springfield College pair of Elizabeth Houdelette and Anya Koshy in the semifinal round.
Briones followed that up in the afternoon by winning the B-Singles bracket with an 8-4 victory against Connecticut College's Teagan Skulley. Briones edged Springfield's Alysa Elliott in the semifinals, 8-6.
Also collecting singles wins over the afternoon for Emerson were sophomore Alisa Pimenova in the D-Singles draw, senior Jayden Beverly in the E-Singles draw, senior Carlson Jones in the F-Singles draw and sophomore Sidra Sundberg in G-Singles.

"The invite was a great day with a lot of match play," said Emerson head coach Burke Paxton. "Big thanks to Tanner and Springfield for hosting us! I am really proud of the fight the women showed. The growth this group has had even from last weekend is fantastic. To finish around .500 on the day as a team against two really strong programs makes me really happy. I hope we can keep learning and carry some of this positive momentum into NEWITTs next weekend."
