NEW ORLEANS, La.- The Emerson College women's cross country team was recognized as a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for the second-consecutive year while junior Yasmin Defne Dadikhi (Istanbul, Turkiye) earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, announced the organization Thursday.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers. The Lions combined to post a team grade-point average of 3.8 as six student-athletes also earned NEWMAC Academic All-Conference nods in the fall.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
Defne Dadikhi captured all-region honors with a ninth-place finish at the NCAA East Regionals before finishing 64th at the 2024 NCAA Championship meet.
A total of 221 NCAA Division III women's cross country programs received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team distinction.
