ATTLEBORO, Mass. (August 30, 2025) -- The Emerson College Lion women's cross country squad opened its 2025 season Saturday at the Suffolk University Short Course Classic, hosted at Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park.
Senior Yasmin Defne Dadikhi had a very strong start to her final season as a Lion, as she rank an 11:25.2 over the 3K course to take 16th place overall. Classmate Oliva Kardos was the next Emerson finisher on Saturday, as she crossed the finish line in 12:43.7 for 72nd place.
Junior Anna Brody would also score for the Lions as she took 127th place in a large field with a time of 13:51.4. The pack wasn't too far behind Brody as first-year Natalie Suplick finished her first collegiate race with a time of 13:59.7. Fellow newcomer Laila Morales was only moments behind her classmate in 139th place, posting a 14:02.7 as the final scorer for the Lions.
Junior Meredith Welbourn recorded a time of 15:57.9, while sophomore Ava Keleher crossed the finish line in 16:20.8. Nalea Curiel recorded a 16:53.1, junior Nicole Armstrong ran a 17:54.5 and Noor Al-Sonbaty crossed the line in 21:35.7.
The Lions will get next weekend off before heading to the Gordon Pop Crowell Invitational in Wenhan, Massachusetts.
