WESTWOOD, Mass.- Sophomore Beckett Hobbs (Issaquah, Wash.) of the Emerson men's soccer team has been tabbed the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week, announced the league office Monday.

Hobbs posted 10 saves as the Lions capped off the regular season with a pair of victories. He finished with five saves as Emerson earned a key 1-0 victory at Coast Guard. Hobbs tallied five saves as the Lions defeated Clark 3-1 in the final regular-season match to secure a place in the NEWMAC Championship tournament.

The season, Hobbs has started 12 matches and owns a 6-6-0 record with three clean sheets.

Emerson finished the regular season with a 7-9-2 overall record to go with a 3-4-1 mark in league action. The Lions earned the No. 6 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament and will travel to third-seeded Coast Guard November 5 for a first round matchup.
