HOW IT HAPPENED

- Zenga gave herself run support after two quick outs when she smacked a double into left center to plate Overton for the game's first run.
- After Emerson snagged the 1-0 lead, Zannotti poked a two-RBI single into shallow center that allowed both Zenga and Killough to come in to move the score to 3-0. Zannotti came home for the fourth Lions run on a wild pitch and bumped the score to 4-0.
- Wheaton answered in the top of the second with four runs of their own to lock the game up at 4-all behind Again and Oliveira's back-to-back bases loaded singles and an error.
- Killough tacked on two more runs for Emerson in the second frame when she belted a two-out RBI two-bagger into the right center gap to drive in both Overton and Rosenberger.
- Emerson did more two-out damage in the home half of the fourth and pushed four more runs across to take the six-run 10-4 lead with the help a trio of RBI singles from Killough, Zenga and Zannotti.
- Knopf drove in Ceddia when her single made its way into left to cut Emerson's lead to 10-5 after five innings.
- Gomez pitched two innings of relief and allowed just two hits as she retired the Lyons in order in the top of the seventh to preserve the Lions' 10-5 victory.
