Women's Soccer Earns Six All-Conference Honors

Westwood, Mass. – The NEWMAC has released its Women's Soccer postseason awards, as announced by the conference on Wednesday morning. The awards are determined by the conference's twelve coaches following the conclusion of regular season play.
Forward Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) of MIT was voted NEWMAC Athlete of the Year, while her teammate Julia Chen (San Diego, Calif.) earned Defensive Athlete of the Year honors. Babson College's Jadyn Mapura (East Hanover, N.J.) was voted Rookie of the Year. The Babson coaching staff was selected as Coaching Staff of the Year by their peers.

Rowlett headlines the first team selections at the forward position, and is joined by Babson's Jordyn Ferrantino (Millis, Mass.), Emerson College's Brittney Righetti (San Francisco, Calif.) and Springfield College's Kayla McGrath (North Adams, Mass.). MIT leads the way with two midfield honorees in Natalie Barnouw (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Ashley English (Sheboygan, Wis.). They are joined by Emerson's Yoshiko Slater (Laurel, Md.) and Babson's Olivia Maltbie (Niskayuna, N.Y). Chen and Mapura each earned first team honors in the defender slot and are joined by Anna Swisher (Los Angeles, Calif.) of Emerson and Gabby Scott (Sea Cliff, N.Y.) of Springfield. Emerson's Amara Schaub (Torrance, Calif.) rounds out the first team selections in the goalkeeper position.

Babson's Morgan Krauss (Belmont, Mass.), Emerson's Gina Lukoskie (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), Smith College's Kyla Warner (Katy, Texas) and Springfield's Jen Walker (Webster, Mass.) make up the second team forward honorees. Springfield leads the way with two second team midfield selections, as both Kaitlyn Suller (Oviedo, Fla.) and Meredith Healy (Niantic, Conn.) garnered the accolade. Emerson's Madeline Khaw (Portland, Ore.) and Smith's Sofia Romero (Stamford, Conn.) also received the nod. Clark University is represented by Ashlee Samuel (Elmont, N.Y.) in the defender slot and is joined by MIT's Lauren Davis (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) and WPI's Jess English (Ledyard, Conn.). Two goalkeepers wrap up the second team, as MIT's Morgan Everett (Danville, Pa.) and Smith's Skylar Smith (Carlisle, Mass.) were each honored.

Athlete of the Year- Meagan Rowlett (Sr., F), MIT

Meagan Rowlett led the conference in every offensive category, including goals (15), assists (10), points (40) and game-winning goals (5). She tallied six goals and five assists in conference play. Rowlett was the driving force behind an offense that led the league with 2.957 goals per game, helping the Engineers to the NEWMAC Championship. 

Defensive Athlete of the Year – Julia Chen (Sr., D), MIT

Julia Chen was the leader of the top defense in the conference, which allowed only 0.70 goals per game overall, and 0.45 goals per game in league play. A stalwart in the back, Chen started every game and was integral to the success of the Engineers, which won the NEWMAC Championship. Chen also chipped in three goals from the defender position, including a game-winner.  

Rookie of the Year- Jadyn Mapura (Fr., D), Babson

Jadyn Mapura started in 17 games at outside back for a Beavers defense that posted three shutouts, and conceded one goal or fewer in seven of 11 conference matches. 

Coaching Staff of the Year – Babson College

Babson, led by head coach Nellie Pineault, finished second in the NEWMAC regular season standings, and reached the NEWMAC final for the first time since 2015. The Beavers finished (12-6-3), earning the program's first NCAA Tournament bid since 2015 and only the second in program history. The Babson coaching staff includes Pineault, and assistant coaches Tim MasonHannah Matlack and Erald Hysi.
