HOW IT HAPPENED
20"- Eastern Nazarene would strike first in the 20th minute. Joaquin Ferraro drilled a corner kick into the box where Bryan Vargas was waiting as he headed the pass into the back of the net. This was Vargas' 2nd goal of the season; giving Eastern Nazarene an early 1-0 lead.
43"- The Lions evened the score late in the first half when Freshman Cade Mallett scored his first collegiate goal on a corner kick from Sophomore Ivan Bruce. Mallett headed the corner kick past Eastern Nazarene's goalkeeper, tying the match at 1-1 with under two minutes remaining in the first half.
62"- Emerson took their first lead of the match when Junior Thomas Chuaqui headed his third goal of the season past the goalkeeper on a pass from Freshman Wesley Jackson. This goal gave Emerson a 2-1 advantage.
71"- Less than 10 minutes later, Emerson struck again. This time Graduate Skyler Stark Ragsdale found the back of the net on another corner kick from Ivan Bruce. This was Stark Ragsdales' thirst goal on the season and Bruce's third assist. The Lions now held a 3-1 lead with just under 20 minutes to play in regulation.
88"- Eastern Nazarene made it interesting late in the match. With just under two minutes remining in regulation, Bryan Vargas scored his second goal of the match; cutting Emerson's lead to 3-1.
89"- Eastern Nazarene had one last chance to tie the score with six second remaining. Igor Chignolli put a shot on net, but Sophomore goalkeeper Ethan Fitzsimmons was able to turn the shot away and help the Lions hold on to a 3-2 victory on Tuesday night.
