The Lead: The Lions were unable to create much offense against MIT's pitching as the Engineers took 2 from Emerson on Friday afternoon at Briggs Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions had an opportunity to score in the top of the 1st inning when Senior Lexi Semanchik began the game with a walk. The next batter, Freshman Sam Zannotti, laid down a successful sacrifice bunt; advancing Semanchik into scoring position. The Lions were unable to cash in and the game remained scoreless.
- MIT plated 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning; begging with a leadoff walk, followed by a couple of miscues by the Lions would allow the Engineers to take the 3-0 lead after 1 inning.
- MIT was able to capitalize on 2 Emerson errors in the home half of the 2nd inning. The 2 errors, paired with 3 hits including a 2 RBI double from Jordan Sell. MIT plated 4 runners in the inning; extending their lead to 7-0 after 2 innings.
- The Lions bats would go quietly in order in the top of the 3rd before MIT broke it open in the bottom half of the inning. The Engineers would score 6 runs on 5 hits and 1 error by the Lions; opening their lead to 13-0.
- The Engineers would tack on an insurance run in the bottom of the 4th and that would be all they would need as pitchers Anya Chase and Zoe Kuhlken combined for a 5-inning no-hitter in game 1 of the double header.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions struck first in game 2 when Sophomore Claire Overton drove a 2-run homerun over the left field fence; giving Emerson a 2-0 advantage.
- MIT was quick to answer; leading off the home half of the 2nd with a triple from Katia Pendowski. An Emerson error would allow Pendowski to score on the next play.
- The Engineers pushed another run across later in the inning, tying the game at 2-2 after 2 complete innings.
- The Lions bats would go down in order in the top of the 3rd inning, before Jordan Sell would lead off the bottom of the 3rd inning with a triple for MIT. Sell would be driven in on the next play on a misplayed sacrifice bunt attempt. Dana Bell would add another Engineer run with a double to left field; giving MIT a 4-2 lead after 3 innings.
- MIT would open the 4th inning with another leadoff triple from Mikayla Cable; their 3rd consecutive inning with a leadoff triple. Mackenzie Bivin would drive a sacrifice fly to right field, plating Cable and extending MIT's lead to 5-2.
- Senior Callie Pratt would help get the Lions back on the board when she doubled to left center in the top of the 6th. Senior Mary Kuczkowski drove Pratt in 2 batters later; cutting the Engineers lead to 5-3.
- The Engineers offense exploded in the home half of the 6th inning, scoring 5 runs on 6 hits, pushing lead to 10-3 and securing the victory for MIT.
