The Lead: Another strong pitching performance from Freshman Jessica Gomez was not enough for the Lions as they dropped game 1 3-2. In game 2, Coast Guard's offense was able to propel the Bears to a sweep and complete the doubleheader sweep on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions had an opportunity to strike first in the top half of the 1st inning when, with 2 outs, Senior Callie Pratt singled through the right side. Mackenzie Killough was the next batter and she drove a ball to the outfield, giving Pratt a chance to score, but Pratt was cutdown at home plate to end the inning; leaving the score 0-0
- Mariah Dewey led off Coast Guard's half of the 1st inning with a single to left field. Christine Carey drove Dewey in 2 batters later with a double to centerfield. Two batters later; Carey would be driven in by Lillia Fowler; giving the Bears a 2-0 lead after 1 complete inning.
- The Lion's bats went down in order in the top of the 2nd while Coast Guard's Julia Breidenthal would drive a solo homerun over the left field wall in the home half of the 2nd inning; extending the Bear's lead to 3-0.
- Freshman Jessica Gomez shut down Coast Guard's offense the rest of the way; only allowing allowing 3 hits and 4 baserunners the remainder of the game.
- The Lions offense remained quiet as well; until the top of the 7th inning. Killough got the rally started with 1 down when she drove a double to right center. Two batters later, Sophomore Claire Overton traded places with Killough with a double of her own and cutting into the Bears lead.
- Freshman Ally Lacey reached on a throwing error, allowing Overton to score and brining the Lions within 1 run at 3-2 with 2 outs in the 7th inning.
- Coast Guard was able to record the final out and hold on to a narrow 3-2 victory over Emerson in game 1 of the double header

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Coast Guard struck first in the home half of the 1st inning when Mariah Dewey led off the inning with a double to right center The next batter walked, followed by a single and sacrifice fly; giving the Bears a 2-0 lead. Coast Guard added 2 more runs, ultimately giving them a 4-0 lead after 1 inning.
- The Lions would get a baserunner in the top of the 2nd inning when Senior Mary Kuczkowski reached on a 2-out single; but the Lions went down quietly after that.
- The Bears added to their lead in the home half of the 2nd. With 2 outs in the inning, the Bears strung together 3 hits and took advantage of an Emerson error; plating 3 runs and extending their lead to 7-0 after 2 complete innings.
- With 2 down in the top of the 4th inning, Kuczkowski reached on another single followed by a Sam Zannotti double which plated a run for Emerson; getting the Lions on the board.
- Unfortunately for the Lions, the Bears offense exploded in the bottom half of the 4th inning scoring 6 runs on 4 hits and another Emerson error; extending Coast Guard's lead to 13-1.
- The Lions went down in order in the top of the 5th, securing a run-rule victory for Coast Guard in game 2 of the doubleheader.
