The Lead: The Emerson Women's Basketball team defeated the Dean College Bulldogs 91-42, with the team honoring it's three seniors in a pregame ceremony, Kate Foultz (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) Natalie Clydesdale (Pittsburgh, Penn.) and Quinn Madden (Mokena, Ill.).

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emerson and Dean opened up trading baskets for the early parts of the first quarter.  Thee Lions took an 11-7 lead on a Davey jumper, with all seven points for Dean coming from Rudder. A pair of three pointers from the Lions capped off a 7-2 run, giving the Lions their first double digit lead of the day at 19-9, with Emerson taking a 19-12 lead into the second quarter.
  • The Lions outpaced the Bulldogs in the second squarter, outscoring the opponents 23-4.  Three pointers from Maddeen and Ashley Toner helped the Lions secure the run.  Emerson took firm control of the game in the second quarter, leading 42-17 at halftime.
  • The Lions strong offense continued into the second half, with Emerson scoring the first five points of the third frame.  A Sam Boyle three point play capped off the run for the Lions, who took a 47-17 lead, their largest of the game.  Emerson maintained the lead throughout the third quarter and the rest of the game.
  • With just under a minute remaining, all three seniors who were honored together before the game were subbed off for the final time in the Brown & Plofker gym.  Congratulations to the seniors on great careers.
