The Emerson Women's Tennis Team took down the Simmons Sharks on Sunday, defeating the non-conference opponent 6-3 in match play.
The Lions opened up the match taking all three doubles pairings to build a lead over the Sharks. Alisha Parikh and Sabrina Jacobs took down Nickie Nguyen and Mariss Johnson in the first pairing, 8-3. Annie Woodbury and Eliana Flores-Barber took down Paola Riod and Michelle Medici 8-3. Thea Nagle and Alex Weingarten defeated Sarah Mariski and Megan McKeever 8-2, taking a 3-0 lead into the singles pairing.
Parikh and Nguyen faced off in the top singles pairing, with Parking coming out victorious 6-1, 6-3. Jacobs and Rios played in the second pairing, with Jacobs defeating Rios 6-4, 6-4. Jacobs' win clinched the victory for Emerson. Flores-Barber defeated Medici 6-4, 6-0 in the third pairing, giving Emerson their final victory of the day, with the Lions defeating Simmons 6-4.
Emerson gets back in action on Tuesday when they travel to take on the Springfield College Pride in a NEWMAC matchup starting at 4:00pm.
