The Emerson Women's Tennis team fell to the Mount Holyoke Lyons on Saturday, 6-3 in match play. The top doubles pairing finished first, with Ching Ching Huang and Annissa Aamoum defeated Alisha Parikh (San Francisco, Calif.) and Sabrina Jacobs (Demarest, N.J.) 8-1. The third doubles pairing finished next, with Joy Maran and Hannah Middleton defeated Thea Nagle (Mechanicsburg, Penn.)and Alex Weingarten (Carlsbad, Calif.) 8-2. The second doubles pairing finished third with Catherine Peabody and Anya Gerasimova defeating Annie Woodbury (Salinas, Calif.) and Eliana Flores-Barber (Long Beach, Calif.) 8-4.
The Lions entered the singles matches down 3-0. The first match saw Huang defeat Parikh 6-3, 6-1. Peabody defeated Jacobs 6-1,6-0 in the second pairing which gave Mount Holyoke the victory. Aamoum defeated Woodbury 6-3,6-1 in the third pairing.
The Lions took the last three pairings in straight sets, with Flores-Barber defeated Madison Rosen 6-2, 6-4 in the fourth pairing. Thea Nagle defeated Clara Wang 6-2,6-3 in the fifth pairing. Weingarten defeated Nikki Cheng in the final pairing 6-4, 6-0.
Emerson has a quick turnaround and gets back in action tomorrow against UMASS Boston, with a match starting at 11:30am.
