Box Score MEDFORD, Mass. - Senior Duncan Bochicchio's (Los Angeles, Calif.) hat trick guided the Emerson men's soccer team to a 3-0 non conference shutout over the Fisher College Falcons on Wednesday night at Hormel Stadium.
With the win, Emerson improves to 5-10 overall and Fischer slips down to 7-9.
Emerson senior keeper Lucas Fischer (Atlanta, Ga.) was credited with the win in his third shutout performance of the season and made 12 saves through 90 minutes in the net. Fisher sophomore keeper Eliseu DiPena (Dorchester, Mass.) and freshman Guerson Saintil (Haiti) split time in the net. DiPena made four saves through 72 minutes in the net before Saintil finished the final 18 minutes. Fisher outshot Emerson 23-14.
Bochiccio led the Lions with three goals on six shots followed by senior Tom Higgins (Lafayette Hills, Penn.), who had three shots. Senior Jordan Markovich (Santa Clarita, Calif.) paced the Falcons with seven shots.
Four minutes into the first half was when Bochicchio buried his first goal of the game past DiPena to give Emerson the early 1-0 advantage over Fisher. The Lions held onto the slim 1-0 lead as the first half closed out with the Falcons outshooting them, 11-10.
On a penalty kick opportunity in the 54th minute and a mere eight minutes into the second half, Bochicchio guided his second goal past DiPena's reach to put the Lions up two goals. While both of Bochicchio's first two nets were unassisted, he capped off his hat trick in the 68th minute with the help of senior Samir Beria (Sterling, Va.) to seal the Lions 3-0 win.
Emerson and Fisher both continue action Saturday afternoon on their home fields. The Lions wrap up the 2016 regular season in a NEWMAC matchup against Babson at 1:00 p.m., while the Falcons welcome Kings (N.Y.) to Hormel Stadium at 3:00 p.m.
