Men's Soccer Wins Charles River Cup, Defeats Lesley 2-1

Box Score

BOSTON, Mass - It was a warm and clear evening at Rotch Field as the Emerson Lions and Lesley Lynx battled for the Charles River Cup. The Lions would come back to win it with the final score 2-1. With the win the Lions rise to 2-3 overall, while the Lynx drop to 1-5.

Lesley opened the match with a bottom corner goal from Harrison Sidell in the 15th minute. Sidell had two other hard shots on goal forcing Lion's keeper Carter Bowers to make some tough saves. Bowers had 7 total saves, playing the full 90 minutes. Chase Donley was between the posts for Lesley with 3 saves, also playing the full time.

Scoring both goals for the Lions was Senior Dan Knight. The first one came unassisted in the 26th minute to tie the match going into the half. In the 70th minute Knight scored again with a header off a perfect pass from fellow senior Jeremy Leder.

The last fifteen minutes saw four yellow cards, two on each team, as the need to control the ball intensified. The Lions will now protect the Charles River Cup Trophy until they play Lesly again next year.

The Lions stay at Home as they enter conference play on Saturday against MIT. Match set for 4:00pm at Rotch Field.
