Box Score Emerson College Women's Soccer opened their season with a bang on Tuesday, with a resounding 6-0 victory over Newbury College.

Within 90 seconds, Alexandra Dezenzo finished on a ball that danced wildly in the penalty area to double the lead.
Newbury's goalkeeper Elizabeth Fox faced seven shots on goal in the first half, managing to save five. However, her side didn't manage any shots in the opening 45 minutes, while Emerson produced a dozen.
Emerson found the back of the net again in the 67th minute, with Alexandra Dezenzo making a great run to receive a piercing through ball, allowing her to rifle a shot down the middle.
In the 69th minute, Jess Frost ensured that the Lions would score twice in quick succession in both halves, after Tayllar Righini controlled a cross to the back post.
Paige Haley intercepted a Newbury goal kick and found the lower right corner of the net with relative ease to notch her second tally on the score sheet in the 77th minute.
Laura McGuire put the dagger in on Newbury with a goal off a corner in the penultimate minute, for Emerson's final shot of their staggering 27 (15th on goal). It was an amazing start to a very promising season for the Lions.
Emerson's next match at home will be September 11th in a clash with Wheelock.
