BOSTON, Mass - It was a clear night at Rotch Field as the Emerson Lions faced the Fisher Falcons in non-conference Men's Soccer action. Emerson took an early lead that proved too much for Fisher to overcome, despite aggressive play, as the matched closed 2-1 for the Lions.
With the win Emerson Men's Soccer rises to 5-10 overall while remaining 0-5 in the NEWMAC. The Falcons fall to 8-6-3 overall.
Junior Duncan Bochicchio scored both goals for the Lions, with the first one coming early in the first half, followed by another only 10 minutes later in the 21st minute of play. The second goal was assisted by senior Matt Zani.
The Falcons fired several well placed shots, but simply couldn't get by Lions keeper Lucas Fischer who made 7 saves on the night. Protecting the net for Fisher was Eliseau DiPena who made 6 saves on 8 shots while playing the full 90.
The Falcons offense found success late in the second half as Junior DePina got a header off a corner kick by Jordan Markovich to close the gap 2-1.
Despite several close opportunities, junior keeper Connor Dane who replaced Lucas Fischer in the 56th minute, was able to hold the line, securing victory for the Lions.
Fisher returns to action October 27th as they travel to Southern Vermont for a 3:00pm match. The Lions are on the road next for a conference matchup against Clark on October 24th at 1:00pm.
