Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Emerson Women's Soccer Team was unable to fend off the offensive attack of the Lesley Lynx Tuesday night as they fell 2-0 in the Charles River Cup Classic. The Lions are now 3-5 while Lesley moves to 6-2.
The first half played out fairly even keeled with Lesley putting up five shots to Emerson's three. The Lions were more accurate though as they put all three on goal, but Lesley's Jackie Berard stopped all three to halt Emerson's attack. The Lynx struck in the 30th minute of action though as Samantha Rapant won the fight for a loose ball and set up Alexis Giusti who put away a goal for a 1-0 lead at the half.
The second half saw the Lynx offense come out blazing as they put up nine shots in the half that Allie Altman put up two saves on. Emerson couldn't push the offense though as the Lynx defense held the attack. LC made a move to finish off the win in the 82nd minute though as Lindsey Bos took a free kick off a foul that Cameron Brown battled off a loose ball for to put into the lower corner.
The Lions remain on the road this week as they set to travel to Mount Holyoke to resume NEWMAC action with a 1 p.m. match in South Hadley, Mass.
