Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Carter Bowers stepped up for five saves on the night in a heartbreaking 1-1 tie to the Lesley Lynx Wednesday night in Cambridge. With the tie the Lions are now 1-1-3 on the year as Lesley pulls to 2-3-2 overall.
The scoring played itself out in the first half as the Lynx only needed until the 11th minute when Erik Johansen went right foot to the inside far post to make it 1-0.
The Lions defense stepped up though in the half with Bowers putting up four saves. Evan Eubanks kept Emerson in the game in the 36th minute with a shot from the right side at 25 yards out off a loose ball.
The second half was a stalemate though even as Emerson put up four shots to Lesley's two, but both sides couldn't make the move as Bowers kept EC in it with a save.
OT spelled the same story for both sides, as it ended in a 1-1 tie, but a shootout was needed to decide the Charles River Cup which Lesley took 2-1 in PKs.
The Lions will open up NEWMAC action this Saturday as they take on MIT in Cambridge, Mass.
