Women's Tennis Falls To Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. – A tough match awaited the Emerson Women's Tennis Team Thursday night as they fell 9-0 to host Roger Williams. With the loss EC is now 0-2 to start the season while RWU moves to 4-2. 

In doubles action Nora Gonzalez and Marilia Rosario put in the work in the one spot but fell 8-0 to Alexandra Brown and Lauren Schmidt. Teammates Theresa Nelson and Ana Alfaro took on Lauren Fletcher and Julia Ackerman in the two spot but were unable to budge the Hawks with an 8-0 loss as well.

Singles proved tough as well for Emerson as Nora Gonzalez fell 6-0, 6-1 in the one spot to Lauren Schmidt while Kathryn Hughes put up a 6-0, 6-0 win in the two spot over Marilia Rosario.  

Theresa Nelson in the three spot scrapped a set with a tough 6-1, 6-0 loss to Harley Kaiserman before Ana Alfaro closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Alexandra Brown.

Next up the Lions will continue NEWMAC action with a match versus Mount Holyoke this Saturday in South Hadley, Mass.
