BABSON PARK, Mass. – Another hard fought match didn't fall the way of the Emerson Women's Tennis Team Friday afternoon as they fell 8-0 to the Babson Beavers in NEWMAC play. The Lions are now 0-7 on the year and 0-6 in the NEWMAC while Babson moves to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Doubles play saw the Lions fall into a 2-0 hole after the Beavers took 8-0 wins in the number one and two spots while EC forfeited the number three position.
Singles action saw the Beavers come out strong as well as they took 6-0, 6-0 wins in the two, three and five spots to clinch the match. Nora Gonzalez battled hard in the four spot snaking a set from Kylie Kam, but fell 6-0, 6-1. Jana Winfield pushed the same in the one spot, taking a set from Tori Paolino as Babson closed out the match.
The Lions return to action Saturday afternoon as they take on Smith in conference action at 5:30 p.m. at the Winchester Tennis Club.
