Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Even with Jules Augustine, Amanda Linzmeyer and Brittany Schoellkopf combining for 21 kills on the night, the effort fell short as the Emerson Women's Volleyball Team fell 25-11, 25-16 and 25-22 to the MIT Engineers Tuesday night. The Lions are now 15-15 overall and 4-5 in conference play while MIT improves to 25-4 on the year and 8-1 in the NEWMAC.
Set one saw the Engineers come out on fire as they swung .556 as a team with Alli Davanzo unleashing four kills on the Lions for a .444 average to lead the floor. Three of her fellow Engineers put down three kills as well as MIT took the lead and never looked back as they took a 25-11 win.
Set two saw the Lions scrap hard with Jules Augustine rocking four kills in the set for a .571 average, but attack errors plagued the Lions as they matched their eight kills with eight errors to give the Engineers the edge. MIT's Megan Gebhard kept pace with Augustine's four kills with a .364 percentage while four service aces and two blocks cemented MIT's 25-16 win.
Set three saw MIT open up with a 5-0 lead before EC got into the fray and fired back to take the lead 11-10. Emerson played outstanding in the set with three Lions flooring three kills each as well as five services aces. EC pushed MIT to the brink with seven tie scores and six lead changes in the set, but in the end the Engineers were just able to edge Emerson 25-22.
