Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Overtime heroics fell the way of the Emerson Lions Wednesday night as the Dan Knight's OT goal lifted Men's Soccer over Eastern Nazarene for the first OT win in four tries on the year. The EC Lions improve to 4-6-3 on the year while the ENC Lions fall to 5-7.
The first half saw a very even-matched game with Emerson putting up four shots and ENC three. Henri Fischer was fantastic in goal with two saves to keep the ENC Lions off the board. ENC managed to scrap three corner kicks in the half, but Emerson's defense wouldn't let them convert as they went into the break at 0-0.
The ENC Lions struck finally about 12 minutes into the second half as a ball passed into the box was deflected and found Scott Hansen who cranked it into the right side of the net. It looked grim for Emerson as the game headed into the final minutes of play before Matt Zani flicked a ball behind him that found Evan Eubanks who blasted it into the right center part of the net to send it to the fourth overtime game of the year for Emerson.
Emerson took the momentum and ran with it though as less than 30 seconds into overtime saw Alex Van Pelt blast his third shot of the night which ricocheted off the goalie only to find Dan Knight who put away his second career goal to lead Emerson to the win.
The Lions will return to NEWMAC action this Saturday as they set to take on Wheaton on the road. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Norton, Mass.
