Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Another five Lions netted goals Thursday night as the Emerson Women's Soccer Team collected a 5-0 win over the Wheelock Wildcats. With the win the Lions are now 3-1 overall as Wheelock drops to 0-4.
The first half saw the Lions come out full throttle as it took them only about 90 seconds before the first goal touched Wheelock's net with Alyssa Giannone putting up a cross that Natalie Benjamin deposited into the back left corner to break the stalemate. Haley Moser jumped into the offensive attack next as she saw a clear pathway open up for her to drop one into the top right to make it 2-0.
Next up for the Lions was Maggie Sheetz with goals in back-to-back games in the 30th minute as Christine White put up a pass that Sheetz was able to get a head on to make it 3-0. Closing out the half for Emerson was Courtney Major who flashed some moves to take a clear shot to the top right to make it 4-0 as EC never let Wheelock get a shot off in the first half.
The second half saw EC play conservative as Melanie Escobar took the helm in goal where the Lions allowed only one shot in the game. The offensive output ended on the night for Emerson with Courtney Major going unassisted to put one past the back right of the night to pull it to 5-0.
The Lions will roll back into action next Tuesday as they travel to Simmons for a 7 p.m. game in Boston, Mass.
