Box Score 2 MARCY, N.Y. – 28 kills for Alex Frapech highlighted the day for the Emerson Men's Volleyball Team as they fell 3-1 to D'Youville and 3-0 to Elms to close out the SUNY-IT Invitational. After the weekend the Lions are now 4-1 on the year.
Game one of the day saw the Lions face-off against the D'Youville College Spartans which saw Alex Frapech take off on a rout as he lit up DC with 19 kills in the match. The Spartans kept pace though, out-swinging EC .220 to .136 with 55 kills to Emerson's 42.
While the Lion defense stepped up with nine blocks in the set, DC's offense was quarterbacked by Jay Senozetnik with 44 assists to kill leaders Matt Loos with 13 and Chris Krueger with 10. The offensive assault was enough to hold the Lions as they fell 25-22, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-14.
Game two on the day pitted Emerson against the Elms College Blazers to close out the tournament. While the Lions looked more composed on offense, swinging .225 in the set, the Blazers were on point, dropping a .367 team attach percentage.
Leading the Lion in the set were Brendan McGonigle with 10 kills and Alex Frapech with nine in the match. Elms wasn't to be deterred though as Jeff Vautrin dropped 15 kills for a lethal .565 attack percentage while the Blazers posted five blocks en route to a 25-23, 25-23 and 25-17 win.
The Lions rip back into action this Tuesday as they travel to JWU for GNAC action. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Providence, R.I.
