Havens' Two Goals Lead Men's Soccer Over Regis

Box Score

WESTON, Mass. – Fueled with Jon Haven's two goals the Emerson Men's Soccer Team collected their first win of the 2012 season Saturday with a 4-1 win over Regis College. Jacob Lawrence and Adam Halliday also netted goals in the game as EC moves to 1-2 overall while Regis falls to 1-3.

The Lions took mere minutes in the game to take control as Jon Havens went unassisted in the third minute took control of the ball in the box to blast one past Regis' Chris Campbell. Havens wouldn't stay quiet for long though as he went solo again in the ninth minute depositing another goal in the lower right corner of the net.

Regis struck back on the Lions in the 14th minute of action as Steve Tavares tallied his fifth goal of the year off a long ball that he kept low past a diving Jacob Sigler to make it 2-1 EC. The Lions weren't finished yet as rookie Adam Halliday put up his first collegiate goal in the 19th minute off  a cross that Halliday one-touched to make it 3-1.

Coming out of the break the Lion defense went to work, shutting out Regis for the duration of the game. Jacob Lawrence put the nail in the coffin in the 60th minute after her picked off a pass that he cranked from the 18th yard line to put finished it.

The Lions return home this week as they set to play Daniel Webster this Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Boston at Rotch Field.
