Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – An early goal from Juan Ossa wasn't enough to hold off Lesley Wednesday night as the Lynx fought back to top the Emerson Men's Soccer Team 2-1 in the Seventh Annual Charles Cup. The loss drops the Lions to 2-4 on the year while Lesley improves to 3-2-2.
Emerson wasted no time out of the gate putting the Lynx on their heels in the match as Jacob Lawrence's indirect kick in the left corner of the box found Juan Ossa who put it away from eight feet out.
From there the match was a gritty head-to-head with the Lions putting up six to Lesley's four shots in the half. Even with the Lions seeming to have more control over the ball, the Lynx snuck through in the 23rd minute of action as a throw in was tapped to J. Jones Takano who laid it into the right corner of the net for his third goal of the season.
All the action was to come in the first half though as the difference maker came in the 38th minute with Ari Sinanis feeding a ball on a trailing break to Darius Koep who lifted a shot into the top back of the net for the 2-1 lead.
The Lions return to GNAC action this Saturday as they travel to St. Joe's of Maine for a noontime start against the Monks.
