Box Score

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was another marquee outing for the rookie class as three freshman scored on the day to lead the Emerson Women's Soccer Team to a 3-1 win over Johnson & Wales Wednesday afternoon. The win improves the Lions to 4-0 on the year and 1-0 in GNAC action while the Wildcats fall to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

The first half saw the Lions put up only five shots, but they made the most of them, netting two goals. The first of the game in the 29th minute as Christine White sent a ball down the left side of the field to Mollie Coyne who put up an unstoppable shot to the corner to make it 1-0. EC made it 2-0 by the 41st minute as a streaking Alyssa Giannone met up with a long pass from Costanza Prandoni that she slipped past the goalie.

The Lions came out of the break with a 2-0 lead, but the Wildcats wasted little time as they cut EC's lead in half as Kayla Sypek headed a ball in off a cross from Kristina Almeida to make it 2-1. Emerson and Costanza Prandoni fired right back two minutes later though as Prandoni saw a pass from Mollie Coyne that she blasted in from 25 yards out to finish it 3-1.

The Lions return home for Alumni Weekend this week as they set to host Albertus Magnus Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Boston at Rotch Field.
