Women's Soccer Battles To A 0-0 Draw With Rivier

Box Score

NASHUA, N.H. – Another double overtime match-up awaited the Emerson Women's Soccer Team Monday afternoon as they saw themselves still at a 0-0 deadlock with Rivier after 110 complete minutes. With the tie the Lions are now 6-3-3 on the year and 4-2-3 in the conference while Rivier holds at 3-8-2 overall and 1-6-2 in the GNAC.

The first half saw the Lions outshoot the Radiers 9-to-7, but only put about four on target as Rivier's Cassandra Brown hauled in four saves in the first 45 minutes of action. Allie Altman did the same for the Lions as the Raiders put for on net as well, but the defensive effort on both sides held tough closing out the half still 0-0.

The Lions came out a bit harder offensively in the second half though, this time putting up nine shots while Rivier could only get off five. EC couldn't seem to put the ball on target though as Rivier had to make but two saves in the half to keep the Lions shut out. Altman stepped up for three more saves as well with both teams just unable to break the stalemate as they rolled into overtime.

In the Lions fourth overtime of the season, the story remained the same with the Lions outshooting the Raiders again 2-to-1 this time, but seeing the Raiders flip that tally in the second overtime. In the end, the battle of the defenses finished exactly the way it had started with a 0-0 tie to close out the match.

Next up, the Lions will host Norwich this Saturday as their 2012 season rolls on. The match is set to kick-off at 1 p.m. in Boston at Rotch Field.
