Women's Soccer Unable To Fend Off Lesley Lynx

Box Score

CAMBRIDGE. Mass. – The Emerson Women's Soccer team was able to post only four shots on the night Wednesday as they fell in a tough 5-0 loss to a potent Lesley Lynx squad that peppered 20 shots on EC. Lion goalkeeper, Alexandra Altman, proved herself to be a defensive lynchpin again as she saved seven of the 12 shots on goal she faced. The loss drops the Lions to 1-1 on the season and Lesley to 2-2 overall.

The first half set the pace of the match as the Emerson defense found themselves fending off the surging Lynx who came out to plaster eight shots on the Lions, netting one in only the fourth minute of the game as a cross to Jenna Fralick saw her place one in the back of the net for her second of the season. The valiant Lion D held off the Lynx until the 31st minute when Jackie Sanchez also collected her second of the year on an unassisted goal to make it 2-0 Lesley headed into the second.

The scrappy Lions came back with some vigor in the second half though as they held it to a 2-0 grudge match all the way until the 70th minute when Alexis Guisti put in a nasty header off of a corner kick to make it 3-0. Alex Altman earned her stripes in the second half as well, making six saves, but the Lions seemed to run out of gas in the end as Lesley put in two more goals in a span of five minutes to pull it to it's 5-0 final score.

The Lions kick back into gear this Saturday as they head to Lasell to start conference action. They'll face the Lasers in Newton at noon.
